MESSAGE FROM AN AJEET

Dear All,
How are you doing? I am doing fine, back at my work place and busy instantaneously.I meant to send this note earlier, but could do it only now. The delay is regretted.
Dear All,
Thank you one and all for the fine gesture while we met and exchanged pleasantries at Swathi Hotel. I consider it a great honour for me that you all took time out to get together at a very short notice. It was a very enjoyable and memorable evening for me.(Please communicate the same to Ashok, Konnur, and Badiger as I do not have their e-mail Ids)
I am sure you all may have plans (BIG/small) for the Annual Day celebrations at SSBJ.It is very unfortunate that I shall miss out on this too, like many occasions in the past. But my best wishes shall always prevail. You have all done the school proud by doing well in whatever you took up. Enjoy the honour of being the silver jubilee batch (pass out).Represent the batch well, voice your opinions loud and clear. And in the end please, do not forget to send me a note on what happened. I know it will never be as good as being a part of the action; nevertheless it shall give me immense joy.
The school played a major role in our growing up. It has given a distinct yet undefined character to our personality which makes it different from the rest of the world. Everything had a part to play, the critical growth phase of 11 to 18 Years, the close bonding due to residential course, regimentation of the forces, rigid routines, tight schedules and critical targets, the undying spirit of participation and involvement of staff, vast campus, myriad activities, events, competitions, inspiring personalities (GDK, DKB, DP, BBS,MM,VNM,RSK etc.), high energy junior, testosterone high seniors.
It is the whole mix that has worked to create a dynamic environment to produce something so strong, enduring and time tested product which shall meet every challenge the modern society shall pose. This can be seen as manifesting in every possible positive vent, in all walks of life that the ajeets have chosen to tread. Here we are all a breathing, walking examples. 25 years have passed since we passed out, yet the spirit is as high as the day we were getting ready for our first day at school rushing with tumblers to fetch CHAI (tea which we often referred to as Amrut) before the PT or Parade.
Thanks to everyone for everything.
I visited the SSBJ on the forenoon of 22-AUG-07 and this was my first visit after passing out in 1982. I had taken my wife and 12 year son along and it was my proudest ever moment before my wife and son. Least me, even they were thoroughly impressed by what we saw.
I would still consider SSBJ to be one of the best schools around. I would not think twice if I have to put my own son in.
Thanks to Principal Capt(IN) Jatinder Kumar, Head Master Wg Cdr RK Prasad and Registrar Lt.Col RK Bali who extended us a cordial welcome and made arrangements for the visit. Thanks to Mr Dilip Mohanty (Supt Hoysala House) who gave us an inspired guided tour with lot of pride. Mr. I than Mr.RV Kalasannavar(Senior Master), Mr SBSattikar, Mrs.SM Hugar, Mr.RKInamdar and all the hearty staff at Mess. (See picture). Salutes buddy Ashok Karadi, his picture hangs on the mess wall (and deep in our HEART). Thanks to Dr Peerapur, Adiraj Halli for pre arranging the visit and a later reunion evening.
On our way back from Bijapur, we had the good fortune to meet Ajeet Mr Rudrashekhar Biradar (or should I say a shadow of his former self) right at the Alamatti Dam site where he is Engineer. The sprawling Dam Site with lush gardens and the massive construction holding back the giant water body was a feast to the eyes.
We also met the Lion in its den, Ajeet Basavaraj Katageri (the Dr he shall be very soon) at his proud work place the Basaveswara Engg College , Bagalkot and his fine family at home. Thanks a million for the hospitality and affection showered on us. Glad to meet Ravi Patil and Suresh Jangamashetty (Ajeets) who work at the same institute and Dr. Shivayogimath the Principal.
A visit to Pune on invitation from batch mate ajeets (Mohan Angadi, Shrigiri, Suresh Despande and others) would have been more difficult than a visit to MARS. But I shall surely do that some day in future, first the PUNE visit of course and then perhaps the later. Another visit to Belgaum to see batch mate ajeets- PG Patil, RC Patil (New Boy), Ashok Itagi etc also could not materialize.
In all we had a terrific time in India. Three weeks were too short with too many things on the agenda. The Day at the school was indeed the best day of the trip.
Keep writing, take care.
Best Regards

Suggestion for a change of SSBJ alumni group name:
More importantly, I was one of the founder members of Association Of Ajeets (AOA), Bangalore, as I had christened the Bangalore chapter in 1987. I was actively involved in the activities of the association at its infant stages along with Ramesh Bhat, Harsha Gaonkar, Prakash Deo, Rajiv Hundekar, Sunil Surpur, Kiran Patil, Govindareddi, Karigar, Shashi Navalgund etc. I still feel the name AOA or something similar would be more appropriate for the alumni group rather than the OBA as the true spirit of AJEET never ages or becomes OLD. One might say, a Rose by any name would smell as sweet. But not an OLD ROSE!!! Just a thought...If we could start calling it the AOA and not OBA. I did bring this up with Captain (IN) Jatinder Kumar Wg Cdr RK Prasad and Lt Col RK Bali in our short meeting at the school.
